i’m a dreamer, a lover and a magick maker...

&, combining all of those, the founder of velvet johnstone, creating and crafting attire for all folks falling in love.

a slow, heart lead design brand, specialising in bespoke and made to measure wedding attire, and also made to order magick for anything and everything worth celebrating.

and that’s because i think life is worth celebrating. vj is not only a culmination of over a decade’s worth of industry experience, but a lifetime’s worth of finding meaning in the moments, both the big and the inbetween. there’s total magick in your muses, your memories, and your meanderings, and that’s why i feel so blessed to be able to bring these to life in an outfit that makes you not only feel amazing, but most importantly feel like you. the phrase ‘made with love’ is used a lot, but as a hopeless romantic i really do craft every piece with loving intent, for the intention of love, for all folks in love.

one of the best feelings in the world - and i feel a lot - is when my clients get in touch to say they adored their outfit so much that they’re wearing it again and again. the process of making your bridal dress or outfit is so much more than just that; as a small atelier, it’s a journey where we can co-create the outfit of your dreams in an intimate and relaxed environment. it also means that you can rest assured knowing that your outfit has been made as ethically and environmentally-friendly as possible, using sustainable fabrics, combining luxurious plant based & recycled fabrics with organic and peace silks and breathing new life into vintage & dead stock, which would otherwise end up in land fill. giving back to the land, each piece plants 8 trees. 

and when i’m not at my desk, i manage to be a hopeless romantic in many other ways - on long walks ... admiring beautiful blooming roses ... daily meditation ... working on my allotment ... daydreaming and practicing reiki.
